A Deadly Stretch of Road

Quote:NEAR WHITE CITY, Ore. -- A man loses his leg in a motorcycle accident outside White City this weekend and people in the area say it is a deadly stretch of road.

That motorcycle hit an SUV late Friday night on Modoc Road, and one thing many of them had in common was alcohol.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office says at least one driver had been drinking Friday night, when the vehicles reached this corner on Modoc Road. The motorcycle was heading one direction, the car was going the other, and the two collided. The motorcycle rider suffered serious injuries to his legs, and had one leg amputated as a result.

The sheriff's office has not said whether it was the car's driver or the motorcycle rider that was cited for a DUI that night. Some motorcyclists said with say this area is known for being dangerous to riders, especially at night when high speeds, blind corners, and alcohol combine. They said many riders drink at nearby bars and then ride their motorcycles.

The Touvelle Lodge Bar says neither of the people involved were regulars there. Other people nearby say night racing is common in the area. The names of the driver and the motorcycle rider have not been released, but alcohol and high speeds have played rolled in several crashes.

Wednesday morning, a car rolled over on nearby Antioch Road, several passengers were taken to the hospital, and a beer can was seen on top of the car.

This is idiotic , how can they blame the "stretch of road" and at the same time claim alcohol was usually involved?

It reminds me of a letter to the editor a while back where some woman was asking when Jackson county was going to do something about the dangerous curve in the road by her house.
HEY LADY, it's a freaking curve!! and it's well marked! what is the county supposed to do straighten out all the curves in our roads for the drunk drivers?

The papers, and the TV Stations, and your radio, are all quiet conspirators in the pay of liquor. They, and the pew sitters. It wouldn't do for their poison to get a bad reputation. And the six year old who died drunk (But, not behind the wheel), was an abberattion, not likely to occur far from Cave Junction.
