Kids Can Make Mobiles

August 23, 2011
Children of all ages can make mini gourd mobiles from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at Ashland Art Center, 357 E. Main St., Ashland.

Artist and teacher Andrea Jansen will help children decorate gourd pieces using ink, paints, dried flowers and other decorations. The artwork will be on display for the First Friday Art Walk in September and then available for viewing at the Ashland Art Center.

All ages are welcome with parental supervision, organizers said. Materials and smocks will be provided, but kids should wear proper painting attire.

The workshops are organized by Project ArtKids, a nonprofit organization established in 2009 to give kids of all ages a voice and identity to create and display works of art. Project ArtKids offers workshops on the last Saturday of each month.

See www.projectartkids.org for more information about the organization.

I was wondering how many kids it takes to make a mobile, and, does anyone else besides me consider this child abuse? Smiling
