FYI, I have performed a minor update (mostly security fixes) to the forum software this morning. Please let me know if you experience any issues.

Thanks,

Kam

It's messed up the image insert tool. Instead of inserting the words {img} {/img} it prompts you for a web address, you'll know more from there.

Hmmm... I get the regular [img] code.

Using Firefox on a Mac I get a popup box that says "The page at http://www.roguevalleyforum says
Please enter the remote URL of the image you want to insert" and then a line that starts out http:// that's highlighted blue after that for you to insert text.

I think this may have been an earlier glitch that first showed up when the program was installed, too, later being corrected. If I remember correctly, it affected some other things as well (youtube insertion perhaps), but those were things I mostly didn't use personally.

I'm shiny too (Chrome) with Windows XP and I get the little box too.

Oye. It looks like the forum software authors did a complete rewrite of the code that handles the link/image/etc. insertion. I'll have to re-write my fix.

The box is nice (it makes it a lot easier to paste a URL into it, less prone to mistake), but there are a couple of issues with it:
  • It doesn't let you highlight a URL you already have in the edit box then click and auto-add the tags, it asks for the URL again
  • On most browsers, you can't drag and drop a URL into the box (some people use this instead of copy/paste)
  • It doesn't work properly in Internet Explorer 7+ due to Microsoft breaking standard JavaScript functions

Here's an example of the IE issues:

It adds 3+ clicks every time someone tries to use it, as the "enable" option for that yellow warning bar isn't permanent.

This should be fixed now; if you're still getting the pop-ups (which have many issues), please be sure to clear your browser cache and reload the page.

FYI, I'm still working on a solution for a "better" editor, but this has so far been a huge undertaking.

Thanks!
