Further along that loop, the river departs and heads downstream. The hike down the left will take you to the best salmon viewing. There may still be a few coming up Rainie Falls. The trail is full of class fours, so wear the bootiest things you have. The map says three miles but doesn't include the five miles up and down. Don't take Muffy on this hike! Pack a lunch, and bring a big half frozen bottle of water. This is a pretty nice half day trip. Here the trail ends. But, on the other side of the river (From the boat ramp) There's another trail, that follows the river on to Agness. My neighbor did it as a day thing, but he was a little wierd. It's better done, over about a week. As a walk!!! You'd need to carry more than you'd want to run with. A moonless night on one of the bends is a memorable event. You can enjoy watching the drownings at The Pickett Fence. Isn't it time to take some dynamite to Mother Nature? They should fix the river, or shut it down. I won't take a kid on this water. You have no right to. In fact, I will walk before I drift (Unless there is a chance of fish involved).
