We are due to have a lunar eclipse in our part of the world, which will be the last one until the year 2014. It begins at 6:33 a.m. and will end around 9:00 a.m. The recommendation is to be ready for it at least fifteen minutes beforehand. Here's a link:

Maybe I will get out of bed and have a look.

This was said to be the last lunar eclipse for 3 years. If the end of the world comes in 2012, maybe ever.

I was standing outside, barefooted, and staring at the moon at five this morning. I'm going to count it as a trial run.

I've changed my mind and am going to reschedule it.

OK, so the Mayans exaggerated a little. The world will still be here for the next lunar eclipse. There just won't be anybody left alive.

TennisMom,
According to this article, the eclipse will begin at 4:45 a.m. PST when a red shadow starts to cover the moon. Those in western North America will have the best views well before dawn, but can still catch the eclipse until as late as 6:05 a.m. PST, according to NASA Science Cast.

I see it's getting dark outside, I'm putting clothes on now to venture out into the frostiness.

Yup, they're shuttin' the moon down. A perfectly clear night for viewing. It's about 1/3 dim or so so far.

Looks like a total eclipse now. I must be the only one watching it. It's too damn cold to do it for long.

Shoot, I should have made someone call and wake me up for it. Missed it entirely. WAAA.
