You have to understand, though, that I remember when Bob Dylan went electric and caused all kinds of protest. I've been with him in spirit through every album. I consider Dylan and Bruce the same generation. Perhaps I'm wrong?

Yes. You are wrong. In the subject of this thread Bruce is addressing the condition of the American Psyche today. He has not lost touch wiith his roots. Bob is dead as far as relevancy to today's situation.
Who else is using their fame and power to try and make a difference?

I was only 14 when Bob when electric. I've seen many bruce shows, ever since the wild, the innocent and the e street shuffle.
Dancing in the dark doesn't do it for me, but the nebraska album hit my soul. He understood the lives of everyday Americans. Everything dies Baby that's a fact Baby, everything that dies some day comes back

In my opinion, Bruce Springsteen is loved by those who don't appreciate real talent.

Then, I moved to New York and spent some time in Jersey. I went to Asbury Park a couple times in the summer and once in the dead of winter. I think I understand Mr. Springsteen a bit more and appreciate his music more. The working class in Jersey is a whole 'nuther world.

I don't love that Harry and he's also dead.
The topic of this thread is Bruce's commitment to making the world and his country a better place for all, at least the way I took his new song. Are you going to post a Burton Cummings video next? How about Karen and Rich?

I think you are a bit short sighted if you don't think Bruce has "real" talent. IMO Talent comes in many packages. Bruce plays a pretty mean Telecaster. He writes a damn good song. His showmanship, passion and ability to connect to an audience is superb.

Are you TRYING to be funny, or it just comes out that way?
Bob has written dozens of songs that anyone on the street could hum; the melodies are cemented in our brains. |
